Police investigating after Narrow Water memorial vandalised
In the attack poppy wreaths, remembrance crosses and flowers were destroyed.
On August 27, 1979, eighteen British soldiers were killed and six were seriously injured when the IRA detonated with two large roadside bombs at Narrow Water Castle.

Hide AdA post on ‘Memorial to the Narrow Water Massacre’ Facebook page says: “I am utterly sickened and appalled that poppy wreaths, remembrance crosses and flowers, that were replaced only two weeks ago, have once again be vandalised and destroyed.
“This is the second time in under a month that this site had been desecrated.
“I would encourage anyone with information on these shameful attacks to contact the PSNI.
“We WILL Remember Them.”
A PSNI spokesman has appealed for information about the incident.

Hide AdSgt Amanda Ford said: “Officers are currently investigating this report and part of our enquiries will be to establish if there is any hate motivation behind this incident.
“I would appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity recently, or anyone who may have information that could assist in our enquiries, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 329 of 19th July.
“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
