Christmas may seem like a long way off but in Lapland, Santa Claus is already preparing for visitors who will be winging their way there for a pre-Christmas visit.
As the children head back to school one travel company is launching its Lapland day trips and short breaks and is advising customers to book now to secure their place on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to see Santa.
"Surrounded by myths and magic and with its breathtaking snow-covered landscapes, Lapland promises to deliver a truly magical experience for all the family," said a spokeswoman for Falcon Holidays.
A three-night breaks with the company include accommodation in twin rooms, thermal outfit, an English-speaking guide and activities such as a Christmas gala meal, meeting with Santa, husky sleigh ride and the chance for children to attend Elf school and post their letters to Santa.
Holidaymakers wanting more action can try their hand at popular snow sports such as snowmobile riding across dramatic landscapes, fast husky dog sleigh rides and ice fishing on frozen lakes.
For skiing enthusiasts, Rovaniemi is near downhill slopes and beautiful cross-country skiing trails, while trekking and skiing are superb ways to explore the Lappish wilderness.
Falcon Holidays NI Director, Christine Donnelly says that a trip to Lapland is a once- in-a-lifetime experience.
"Lapland is a truly magical place and the packages that we have put together offer customers the chance to really experience the best that this destination has to offer. Whether they choose to take a day trip to the home of Santa Claus or a three night break, we are confident that our customers will be drawn into the excitement and wonder of their surroundings," she said.
"We have had increasing numbers of customers travelling from Northern Ireland since we first introduced our Lapland trips three years ago and with people looking to get the best possible value from their trips and hoping for a truly memorable and special experience, I believe we will see high numbers setting off in search of Santa Claus again this winter," added Christine.
