EIGHT Dutch companies from the agricultural technology sector have arrived in the Province in preparation for the start of the Balmoral Show at Belfast's King' Hall tomorrow.
The Dutch will showcase modern farming technology, equipment and buildings for intensive livestock and dairy farming, innovative slurry handling and application, crop treatment, electric fencing and farm machinery components and spares at the Dutch A
gri-Tech Pavilion during the three-day show.
"The Dutch agricultural technology sector has developed modern and efficient processes and technologies for livestock production and farming," said Gerrit Weijers, director of the Netherlands Federation of Agricultural and Horticultural Techologies, who is making his first visit to the Province.
"An extensive industry manufacturing innovative and advanced equipment, designed to make production more efficient, has grown up around the Netherlands' agriculture sector.''
Steve Murnaghan, managing director of Amsterdam-based Northern Ireland Trade Consultants, the organisation which fosters business relationships between the Province and the Netherlands, said: "This is the third in a series of high profile trade missions from the Netherlands, which has strong traditional business links with the Province, across a number of sectors."
Ewald Wermuth, head of the Agriculture Department at the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in London, is looking forward to a successful Balmoral Show.
"The Dutch have a reputation for being pioneers in international business," he said.
