HSBC has announced plans to create up to 20 new jobs with the opening of new premises at Royal Avenue in Belfast.
The expansion will bring the bank’s total number of outlets across Northern Ireland to six, with plans for further branches over the next three years.

The new HSBC branch will offer the full range of retail, commercial and financial planning servi
ces.

“This new opening is part of HSBC’s continuing expansion plans,” said Cecil Russell, HSBC Regional Director for Northern Ireland.

“Northern Ireland has become increasingly global in outlook and people here, both locals and internationals, expect more from their bank. With a presence in over eighty countries worldwide HSBC is able to offer unrivalled access to international banking services as well as local expertise from professionals on the ground.”

HSBC has had a 40 year presence in Northern Ireland – known formerly as Forward Trust Asset Finance – and launched its first retail branch in Belfast in 2001.

It has since opened further branches in Coleraine, Omagh and Portadown and Londonderry along with two commercial centres to deal with a variety of commercial and corporate businesses.

The expansion will bring the total number of people employed in Northern Ireland to 110 and the new Belfast branch will operate in addition to the existing branch at 2 Donegall Square South .

The new branch is scheduled to open in early December 2008.
