Two teams of Ulster Bank employees are racing each other to the finish line of raising the most funds for youth charity The Prince's Trust, as part of the charity's Million Makers Project.
Each eleven-strong team are tasked with raising £20,000 in six months through a series of mini business ventures and fundraisers, which they must plan, promote and implement themselves.
Teams are set up like small companies with each member assum
ing a different role from chairman to finance director.
Participants are encouraged to take on a role in an unfamiliar area to maximise the new skills gained.
Fifty-one teams in total are taking part across the UK.
As well as raising much needed funds for The Prince’s Trust, the teams will be gaining key skills in an innovative and creative way including entrepreneurialism, teamwork and business skills.
The Ulster Bank teams recently had to face the firing line as they presented their ideas to a panel of experts including Orla McCarron and Aodhán Connolly from The Prince’s Trust Northern Ireland, Chris Anderson from Ulster Bank Retail Direct, and Kate Smith, former UTV presenter and successful entrepreneur, who runs her own life- coaching business.
Kate Smith was happy to offer her expertise on the presented plans: “It was wonderful to hear such innovative ideas from business men and women, motivated not just by winning but by helping young disadvantaged people in Northern Ireland have a second chance.”
Ronnie Hanna, Ulster Bank Group said: “I am delighted we have two teams of Ulster Bank employees taking part in The Prince’s Trust Million Makers enterprise challenge.
“Ulster Bank is very committed to their partnership with The Prince’s Trust and indeed, is providing the only Northern Ireland representation this year. I’m sure our staff will find the experience both challenging and enjoyable and the funds raised will help to change young lives for the better.”
The Prince’s Trust Northern Ireland will support over 3,000 young people this year and help to start over 220 businesses by providing financial and mentoring support to young entrepreneurs.
The Million Makers Project is available for any business interested in developing their staff while raising funds for local disadvantaged young people. For further information, please contact Orla McCarron on 028 9075 8119.
