Charity plea to mountain trekkers

I would like to call on all walkers from Northern Ireland to take on an amazing challenge while raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care by joining the Daffodil Walking Team and helping us provide nursing care services.

Due to three successful mountain challenges on Slieve Donard, Marie Curie Cancer Care has just announced it will again be running Slieve Donard Mountain Challenge, taking place on June 20.

The event is going to be a challenging one, but as previous walkers and trekkers will tell you, the rewards are enormous. Just think how good you'll feel having completed such an amazing personal challenge while knowing that you've helped raise a huge amount of money for a brilliant cause. Over the last three years this event has raised 59,000 which has provided 2,950 hours of nursing care.

Last year, community nurses in Northern Ireland provided 70,000 nursing hours to cancer patients, enabling them to spend their final days at home. The care and support given to patients is provided free of charge to patients and their families.

Once you join the Daffodil Walking Team the charity will support you all the way and you will come away with new friends and memories that last a lifetime.

Marie Curie Cancer Care offers a variety of events throughout the year. There's always something to suit you no matter what your ability. Check out our range of events by visiting www.mariecurie.org.uk/events.

For details of the event call 08700 340040 or visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/uktreks.
