One party move a backward step
I THINK Tom Elliott is wise to reject any suggestion to disband the UUP and join the Conservative Party.
The Conservative Party cannot be trusted, indeed they have a bit of a cheek. Regarding the matter of whether or not to have one single unionist party, I have to say on that issue I agree with Dr Paisley that it would be a backward step.
In fact, in a PR election it would see the unionist vote decline.
Several unionist parties will mean an increase in the overall unionist vote.

Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 08:52 AMWhy cannot the Conservative Party not be trusted?? Perhaps because they are a secular party with lots of athiests and Catholics in it? Actually Terri is right, the Conservatives should not be in NI because no British political party should be. As ever since the Anglo Irish Agreement (and effective cross party policy in government before that) UK government has no 'claim' over NI. In fact unofficial Labour party policy has rightly sought a united Ireland.
