Recalling King’s death

I READ with interest Gordon Lucy’s excellent article on King George VI.

On February 6, 1952 I was out canvassing for the Unionist Party (remember it?). A lady came to her door and told me she had just heard of the death of the King. In those days it was just as if one of our own family had died.

George VI was a wonderful monarch.
