Sterile opposition is not the way
IT is perfectly natural that political parties with similar constitutional and ideological principles should work closely together.
It can surely help shed the shackles which slow down the political process, especially in the Northern Ireland context where so much depends on consensus.
It is ironic that those within the Ulster Unionist Party, who are opposed to talks and co-operation with the DUP, are the same people who would try to drag the party away from its influence within the Stormont Executive, and have us create some kind of sterile and pointless opposition.
They want us to embrace the policies abandoned by the DUP in 2004.
I have no concerns about Ulster Unionist members addressing Sinn Fein-sponsored events. What is not acceptable is for these same members to show so much negativity towards talks with the DUP.
