The number of advertisements appearing in newspapers indicating that the goods advertised are for UK mainland only requires to be challenged, as I have done.

When you telephone the firm, they mention Ireland but I have had to point out to them that Northern Ireland is still part of the UK Post Office network and should be treated as such, and not as the Republic of Ireland.

I was delighted to read in Saturday's News Letter (July 4) the inspiring letter from Joel Johnston. I take heart from the sentiments expressed by Mr Johnston and I have no doubt the vast majority of Orangemen will agree. It is very sad that over the last number of years we have witnessed an appeasement policy. Now is the time for all Orangemen, this 12th of July, to make their feelings known to Mr Saulters and the Grand Lodge.

As a self-employed person who works long hours to keep my business afloat, I find it an insult for Jeffrey Donaldson to claim for films. I watch my finances closely and would love to see the expression on my accountant's face if I put DVDs down as expenses.

Queen's University researchers need to study history a bit more. If they did they would find that teenagers have been interested in experimenting with mind-altering substances since we have been on the planet, and will continue to do so long after the current drug war is a memory akin to burning witches. Societies that have provided socially acceptable means to accommodate this natural human behaviour have not had any drug-related problems. Shamans in many cultures will act as mentors and guides for youth to experience altered states, often as part of religious or other social rites of passage.
