The red carpet was out and everyone was in their best bib and tucker for the screening of Closing the Ring, a love story spanning five decades.
The paparazzi were out in force as members of the stellar cast including Shirley MacLaine, Mischa Barto
n and Pete Postlethwaite arrived in the city where the root of the story of a downed American B17 and one of its crew takes place.
Local actor Martin McCann made it back from Australia where he is filming Band of Brothers Two with Tom Hanks.
As the dinner suits and evening gowns filed in to watch the film, all eyes were on the upper tier where the stars would hold court.
After a performance of the theme song to the film by newcomer Amy Pearson which is due to be released as a single, it was time to settle down and finally see what all the fuss was about.
Without giving too much away, it's safe to say the film covers all the bases – there's romance, heartache, grief and a nod to the Troubles, hopefully now in the past. There's even some moments of comedy just to ease the tension so that it can build again.
Martin McCann is excellent while Shirley MacLaine is effortless in her role while every other member of the cast pulls the story seamlessly together.
This is something Belfast and the rest of Northern Ireland can be proud of and deserves to be seen around the world.
