THE line-up for this year's Belfast Festival at Queen's was unveiled on Wednesday.
The event, which begins on October 17, will feature an eclectic range of over 500 artists and performers from across the globe.

Among the highlights are legendary composer Ennio Morricone, Broadway diva Barbara Cook, Seventies superstar Gilbert O'Sullivan and comedian Dylan Moran.

Other events include readings from Cherie Blair and novelist Will Self, a reworking of Antigone by Belfast playwright Owen McCafferty and a new production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

This year's festival is sponsored by The Ulster Bank, a move which ends a period of financial uncertainty for the event.

Festival director Graeme Farrow said: "We're raising our game this year and beyond thanks to welcome increased investment.

Now in its 46th year, the largest festival of its kind in Ireland aims to celebrate the best of international art and Northern Ireland's rich and vibrant cultural scene.

The festival has welcomed a who's who of prominent artists over the years, including Dizzy Gillespie, Laurence Olivier, Jimi Hendrix, Moscow State Ballet, Philip Glass and Yoko Ono.
