English men have manners, says Emma Watson

Showbiz round-up, by the PRESS ASSOCIATION

:: EMMA WATSON has said US men have an advantage over their British counterparts - they don’t ignore her.

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower actress, who is dating US student Will Adamowicz, was asked on Ellen Degeneres’s chat show whether she’d noticed any differences between British and US men.

“English guys are very well put together and they dress really well and they are very well mannered. But they are also very restrained,” she said.

“Usually in the whole courting situation, I’m used to being first of all, ignored for the first two months of the ritual.”

“And then maybe they’ll acknowledge my presence. Then, they’ll probably be a little mean to me. And then, maybe we’ll, you know... whatever.”

:: ELISHA CUTHBERT has admitted she’s still hoping a 24 movie could be in the pipeline.

The 29-year-old actress, who starred as Jack Bauer’s daughter Kim in the hit TV series, said a script for the much-anticipated film “exists”.

“It would be a shame not to do it, because I think a lot of people are hoping it will happen. So maybe one of these days, we will see,” she said at a red carpet event launching the third season of Happy Endings in Los Angeles.

“I know it’s there, and it exists, but I have no idea when it’s happening, to be honest with you.”

:: NINA DOBREV has insisted she would never starve herself just to lose weight.

The actress - who plays witch Elena in The Vampire Diaries - revealed that although she exercises and eats healthily, she isn’t obsessed with being thin.

She told Self magazine: “I have a flat tummy, but I’m not rock hard. If I’m going to be in a bikini, I’ll train more and skip desserts for a couple of weeks. But usually, I work out to feel good.”

She added: “Starving to be skinny isn’t my thing. When I don’t eat, it affects my mood!”

Nina, who is dating her co-star IAN SOMERHALDER, also told how she creates “vision boards” to help her achieve her goals.

:: CONOR MAYNARD has revealed One Direction’s NIALL HORAN is a “really cool guy”.

The Turn Around singer is pals with the Irish boyband star, and is keen to go out partying with him.

He said: “Niall from One Direction is really cool. He’s a really cool guy. He’s the one I’ve had the chance to speak to the most.

“I bumped into him at V Festival so I spoke to him there. He does like to party. I remember he was remixing my song Girls, Girls, Girls (Can’t Say No), changing it to Beer, Beer, Beer.”

:: MATT CARDLE has revealed how his own heartache acted as inspiration for his new album The Fire.

The singer was dating dancer Sarah Robinson when he won The X Factor in 2010, and the couple lived together for more than a year before they split.

“The main inspiration was the break-up of the relationship at the time. The album is about that essentially,” he admitted.

He added: “I fell in love during the show. Through mistakes that I’ve made and other situations, we just fell apart and the whole album is about that.”

:: WILLEM DAFOE is set to work with director LARS VON TRIER for the third time, on upcoming film Nymphomaniac.

The Spider-Man actor - who previously worked with the acclaimed film-maker on Antichrist and Manderlay - will join an all-star cast for the erotic movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Willem will head to Cologne to play a supporting role in the two-part epic, which also stars CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG, STELLAN SKARSGARD, UMA THURMAN and SHIA LABEOUF.
