How Cheryl Cole’s illness made her rethink her priorities

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole

The latest celebrity gossip from the Press Association’s showbiz reporters

CHERYL Cole has revealed having malaria made her reassess her life.

The singer and former X Factor judge admitted she even started writing a will following her brush with the disease, after a trip to Tanzania with dancer DEREK HOUGH in 2010.

The star opens up in her autobiography Cheryl: My Story, which is being serialised in The Sun.

“Now I feel sure I had it for a reason. It’s almost as if it was God’s way of forcing me to stop and get off the roller coaster ride my life had become. It made me take a good look at myself - and that’s what I’ve done,” she said.

:: BEYONCE apparently left her husband JAY-Z speechless when she joined him on stage in the US.

The songstress, clad in a black leather top and skimpy shorts, joined her rapper hubby on stage for their hit Crazy In Love at Brooklyn’s Barclays Centre on October 6, but he got so caught up in his wife’s performance that he missed his rap cue, reported MTV.com.

“I should probably rap here,” he quipped when he realised his mistake.

It was the final night of Jay-Z’s eight-show run at the Barclays Centre.

:: NICOLE SCHERZINGER has opened up about her battle with an eating disorder.

The X Factor judge revealed she started struggling with bulimia in 2003, when she was still a member of the Pussycat Dolls, reports People.

Speaking on a VH1 Behind The Music special, she said: “I guess it was like my addiction, right? I never did drugs, but kinda doing things to myself was my addiction. It’s like when I got offstage, I was on this high, and I’d come back to my room and I’d be alone, so I would just do things.

“My bulimia was my addiction. Hurting myself was my addiction.”

:: CHRISTIAN BALE is reportedly back on board for David O Russell’s upcoming drama.

The Batman star was linked to the project earlier this year but the news was followed by rumours that he had dropped out.

However, according to The Wrap, Christian is set to star in the project, which is currently untitled but was previously called American Bulls***.

It has also been announced that BRADLEY COOPER, JEREMY RENNER and AMY ADAMS will co-star in the political drama.

The film follows a financial con man (Christian) and his girlfriend (Amy), who are caught by a federal agent (Bradley).

:: BEN AFFLECK proved he was quite the gentleman when he left a courteous note for a driver after accidentally hitting their car.

The Argo star bumped into the parked car while he was out and about in Santa Monica, California, at the weekend, reports Just Jared.

Photographs show the actor and director penning a note and popping it on the front of the vehicle. It read: “Hi, Knocked off your mirror! Very sorry! Will cover everything.”

Ben, 40, included his contact details in the note so the owner would be able to get in touch with him.

:: SIENNA MILLER has reportedly joined the cast of upcoming drama Foxcatcher.

The Factory Girl actress - who welcomed her first child, daughter Marlowe, in July - will play the wife of tragic Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz in the film, which is based on a true story, according to Deadline.MARK RUFFALO is set to play Schultz, while CHANNING TATUM will star as his brother.

STEVE CARELL is tipped to play John du Pont, heir to the du Pont chemical fortune, who built a wrestling training centre called Team Foxcatcher. He shot and killed his friend Schultz during an attack of paranoid schizophrenia.
