ARTIST Adrian Margey returns to the Killyhevlin Hotel Enniskillen over Easter weekend with his annual exhibition and sale of work.

Fresh from the success of his debut Dublin show and participation in a prestigious exhibition organised by the Irish consulate in Shanghai, Margey’s Enniskillen exhibition will offer a wide choice of contemporary depictions of Northern Ireland’s landscape, iconic landmarks and musical traditions to collectors.

This will be Margey’s fifth consecutive year exhibiting at the Killyhevlin. In the past couple of years his work has become increasingly sought after outside of Northern Ireland. The Arts Council of Northern Ireland recently supported

the promotion of Margey’s work in the USA to great effect and backed his debut Dublin exhibition earlier this month.

Vivid interpretations of Devenish and Boa Island, Enniskillen Castle, Florence Court, Portora, Lough Erne and Lough Navar give the collection a very local flavour.

A number of the artist’s expressive Irish dancer pieces and popular traditional music session scenes will also be on show. Margey’s portrayals of mummers and dramatic North Coast landscapes, Dublin cityscapes and nostalgic

depictions of Donegal and Connemara make this a must see exhibition for art-lovers and collectors alike over Easter.

Self-taught and working from his Kilrea studio, Margey cites the Fauves, the Irish impressionists and the indigenous artists of South America among his key influences. He combines a kaleidoscope palette with lazy brushstrokes and

expressive knife work to create his distinctive work.

Much of Margey’s work uses bold colour, strong shapes and expressive texture to conjure up moods and evoke an emotional response from the viewer. Palette knife, brush work and finger-painting techniques are used to bring a new perspective to the familiar.

The exhibition runs Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31, 11am – 8pm and Monday, April 1, 11am – 6pm. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
