Apology for railway delays
Published Date:
25 August 2008
I would like to address the issues raised by Lea Hume in 'Train problem spoils day out' (Letters, August 15).
The experiences your reader details are disappointing, and it is correct to state the trains from Londonderry were disrupted on August 9.
Unfortunately we experienced mechanical difficulties and services were disrupted.
We made every effort to meet passengers' transport arrangements by providing bus substitution services.
We had members of staff at Londonderry station on the ground to explain to passengers what arrangements were in place.
Trains were held in Coleraine station to carry all passengers coming off bus substitution services from Londonderry.
This was an extremely busy day and while we endeavour to operate all services as scheduled, invariably unsuspecting problems do happen.
Alternative arrangements were put in place as quickly as possible; however, we apologise for the delays encountered.
