Distinguishing 'proper interpretations'
Published Date:

DAVID Wright (Letters, October 2) writes of Biblical texts being 'properly interpreted', so clearly he is not one of those Creationists for whom every verse is literally true.
The snag is that what one Christian regards as a proper interpretation of a text may well be regarded by another Christian as a gross theological error.
We have hundreds of sects/denominations quite convinced their interpretations are the correct ones. I find Mr Wright's attempt to give scientific credibility to the Biblical accounts of turning water into wine, walking on water and walking through walls, quite entertaining.
If these notions are entirely his own, I commend him on his vivid imagination. But since he acknowledges in a previous letter (News Letter, September 19) that Creationism isn't science, I suggest he's taking credibility too far.
