RECOURSE to the age-old diversionary tactic of attacking the messenger when there is no answer to the message, hallmarked Jeffrey Donaldson's "reply" to my letter pointing out DUP's failure to amend the obscene definition of "victim", which equates the perpetrators of terrorism with those they made victims.
Vitriol against me is no answer to the issue.

Yes, it is correct that this evil definition was brought in under direct rule.

But it is now a devolved matter, so Stormont can change it.

So why hasn't it since the DUP claim to be in control? Simple, because under this Belfast Agreement devolution Sinn Fein has a veto on such change and can be guaranteed to block justice for those its IRA made victims.

There isn't much point in Jeffrey bewailing the badness of direct rule when the Stormont he sits in is failing to reverse this insult to innocent victims.

Since he accepted the Belfast Agreement's veto for republicanism, it is surprising that Jeffrey is clutching at the figleaf of saying he is presently working on a proposal to change the definition of 'victim'.
He knows he can't get it through.

As for his jibe about what I have done for victims, numerous victims' groups around the Province know of the help they have had from this MEP on funding issues.
