The Rev Brian Kennaway's letter (August 20) commented on the Orange Order being challenged over the Roman Catholic ban.
Firstly, I would ask Bro Kennaway is he for the ban staying, which I hope he is, or is he for it being removed?

I am sure there are those on the liberal side of the Order who would want this removed, to make it more attractive to the other side of
the divide.

Latterly, we have seen the Orange Order compromise from the top right down, so I am sure there would be those at the top who would want this removed.

I say to Bro Kennaway: I hope you will stand with those of us who want this Institution to remain Christ-centred, Bible-based and Church-grounded. This order must stand on the principles of biblical Protestantism. Ephesians, ch 2 v 8, says: "By grace are ye saved through faith."

I think we all need to look and see what the Reformers did. They came out of Rome. We have some within our Churches today and some within the Order who are in Romanism.

I say to Bro Kennaway, as he is a Presbyterian minister, that he has many ecumenists within his denomination and there are many within the Order, so I say to him to stand with those who want to keep the Orange Order on a biblical road, to keep it firm in the faith and to see a revival right through the institution.

Brian Moorhead,
Banbridge
