McElduff scored own goal on GAA

I COULDN'T help but be amused as I listened to Barry McElduff, MLA attacking the Minister for Sport for allegedly not doing his job right.
During his rant, Mr McElduff demanded that Gregory Campbell MP, MLA withdraw from his position as minister because he would not fast-track a civic reception for the Tyrone GAA team.
It is right and proper that the GAA should be treated the same as other sports. As it later transpired in the interview, Mr McElduff admitted that it is he who is the chairman of the Northern Ireland Scrutiny Committee. Surely then it is up to Mr McElduff to get himself in order and not the minister, who is quite clearly following the due process to organise civic receptions for the sports community.
Mr McElduff should be scrutinised for wanting preferential treatment given to a GAA team when Olympians, yes Olympians, had to wait two months for their civic reception. Poor form from the chair of the Scrutiny Committee who has certainly scored an own goal in this matter.
