Protect children and unborn babies

I AM not sure if it is politically correct for me to mention that I attended one of Gary Glitter's sell-out concerts in the old Odeon cinema in Belfast in 1977.
I am sure it must be nigh on impossible nowadays to find anyone who will admit to ever having been a fan. Indeed, there may yet be time to include Glitter bashing as an Olympic sport in time for London 2012!
I must admit that I am less than impressed by what passes for modern morality in Britain today.
We collectively despise Glitter.
He is a vile paedophile; we know how to deal with his sort in the UK; we value our children and know how to protect them.
Our home secretary is personally involved, she will curtail Glitter's activities, etc.
If we are really such a moral people in the UK, who place such a high value on the rights and protection of the child, then why did we abort 193,700 babies in 2006?
