ON September 28, Assistant Chief Constable Peter Sheridan will retire from the PSNI after serving for 32 years. He was a 16-year-old Catholic who joined a white, Protestant, working class police force. It cannot have been easy to be a young Catholic joining the RUC in those days and to know at such a young age what you wanted to do.
Peter Sheridan educated himself and was very fair in all his dealings with the public.

He was very polite, a great people person, with a wicked sense of humour. Peter Sheridan always went the extra mile and would leave no stone unturned to get justice.

He worked extremely hard and was very interested in different cultures and made sure he worked a room and spoke to everyone. Promotion did not go to his head, he was still the same.

I salute Peter Sheridan for his integrity and honesty, and his willingness to engage with different communities.
