I HAVE just this minute set down the News Letter (August 22) and I am still shaking my head in disbelief at comments by Basil McCrea regarding the Scottish fans booing the national anthem on Wednesday night.
Yes, the MLA did say it was "disappointing" but the comments "he pointed to how England supporters get confused when they hear Northern Ireland fans singing the national anthem and waving a flag very similar to their own" really took the biscuit.

Come on, Basil, what a preposterous thing to say. Whilst the English supporters have been derided for many things in the past, it is an insult to their intelligence to suggest they might not be able to differentiate between the two, we are after all the Green and White Army, the clue lies in the colours how we stand out amongst other UK countries!
