Fantastic Mr Fox

ALL roads lead to Belfast’s Waterfront this weekend when Young at Art hold a series of exciting events at the venue as part of the Belfast Children’s Festival which opens today and runs until March 16.

Festival in a Weekend takes place at the Waterfront tomorrow and Sunday (March 10-11) and features a Ska-themed Baby Rave (at which the under 4s can shake it out on soft mats and cushions, beneath disco balls and to tunes from The Specials to Madness, mixed by a professional DJ); screening of a selection of animated films, including Fern Gully, Fantastic Mr Fox and Ponyo - a Japanese anime (cartoon) version of the Little Mermaid story; plus a selection of Arts & Play events including badge-making classes, art workshops. the chance to play with toy cars on the Helter Belter Sketlter race track, and a novel ‘Stare Wars’ competition at which young competitors see who will blink first.

There will be a celebration of World Book Day on March 10, with stories and readings in the Waterfront Studio.

Children and parents can gain access to all the Arts & Play events by purchasing the Arts & Play Family Passport.

The passport also grants entry to Debutots Early Years Drama - a unique blend of interactive story telling and dramatic play for ages two plus.

Lots of free events are taking place including the Festival in a Weekend Art Exhibition and Magic George’s Balloon Modelling and Magic Shows.
