Rory McIlroy and his girlfriend have issued what appear to be denials of rumours that the two have split.
It was suggested in the press over the past few days there were problems with their two-year long relationship - speculation which appears to have begun when they changed the pictures they were displaying on their Twitter accounts, to show solo images instead of ones depicting them together.
However last night Miss Wozniacki’s Twitter profile showed a picture of the two together as a couple, and she wrote: “Since my profile pic made big headlines I better change it again lol.. #dontbelieveallyoureadinpapers”.
Yesterday evening, Rory’s own Twitter account said: “ I’d love to know who this guy source is... Seems to pop up in the papers all the time and is wrong 99.9% of the time!”
Rory was reported at the beginning of the weekend as saying they were “all good”.
But there were some conflicting takes on the situation in media since then.
The Irish Independent said a source had stated on Saturday that the relationship was over.
Meanwhile yesterday the Sunday World cited unnamed sources “close to the golden couple” as “hitting back at rumours they have hit a rough patch”, and in an interview which appeared on Saturday in the New York Times Miss Wozniacki herself made no specific reference to any split between them, and said Rory is “pretty close to the ideal boyfriend.”
