Free BMI & blood pressure check this Saturday at Tower Centre

GET your FREE BMI & Blood Pressure Check as Slimming World launch "Lets Beat It Together" Campaign in the fight against obesity Families across Northern Ireland are being urged to change their lifestyle for the sake of their children, as the launch of Slimming World's new 'Let's Beat It Together' campaign on Saturday, February 21 aims to prevent the crisis from spiralling out of control across the country.

In Northern Ireland one in 10 children are obese according to official figures and local experts from Slimming World, have warned that unless something is done about it, today's children could be the first to die before their parents.

At Slimming World groups children aged 11 to 15 can attend absolutely free of charge with a paying parent or guardian, is leading Northern Ireland's "Let's Beat It Together campaign" and says a whole family approach is vital for the healthy futures of children in the area.

We need to get every family in every city, town & village involved if this is really going to work.

Government statistics predict that 9 out of 10 children will be overweight or obese by 2050, leaving them at risk of a range of serious illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancer.

But with a few simple lifestyle changes, it doesn't have to be like that. Young people can already learn about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle by attending Slimming World groups free of charge as part of our Family Affair scheme. They learn how to make healthier food choices that fit in with their school, home and social lives and, from the discussions we have in group, they become much more aware of the importance of physical activity.

Every Slimming World member can help the whole community, old and young alike, start to make healthy changes by introducing a new member to a group.

Slimming World research shows that 75% of our members influence the people around them to shop more healthily and to cook and eat more healthily. It shows they build more regular steady exercise into their daily routines too. This initiative will spread these positive messages not just to friends and family, but to the community as a whole.

If we pull together we can beat obesity and give our children the healthy futures they deserve

Come along to the Tower Centre on Saturday 21st February to launch of the "Lets Beat it Together Campaign, where they will be offering free BMI & Blood Pressure checks, balloons for the kids and goody bags to the first 250 visitors. The launch will run from 12pm to 2pm.
