How soggy pup Joy is now top dog
Lest we have blotted it from our memory, midsummer last year was also unseasonably wet.
‘Happy Ending To A Soggy Dog Story’ described ‘how four paddling pups survived the floods’ which decimated Belfast last June.
Liz said:
“If you recall, I’d returned home to our house in east Belfast to find the ground floor of the house completely flooded. Amazingly, when checking on the litter of four German Shepherd pups I’d left safely tucked up in bed in the kitchen, I discovered that all four brave pups had been able to scramble onto a shelf to get above the rising water level.
“It truly was a miracle that none of them were drowned! Though soaking wet and terrified by their ordeal, the pups made a rapid recovery and since then all of them have found great homes. Two stayed here in Belfast, one is now in Drogheda and one moved to Dublin.
“Joy was the pup we kept. At first, she was quite shy after her ordeal and was unsettled further by having to move into a strange, unfamiliar house we rented while our own home was repaired. However, with the help of her mother Dallas and her big sister Tulsa, this plucky little fighter gradually rebuilt her self confidence and Joy now comes to work with me (www.the-dog-walker.co.uk ) every day.
“Her tireless energy and boundless enthusiasm have won her many new four-legged and two-legged friends. After running and playing with Joy, everybody returns home happy and content. Her help has really proved invaluable to me, she really is the best partner I have ever worked with – and, as you can see from her photo, taken at the Ulster German Shepherd Club where she trains, she’s really enjoying life now!”
