VIDEO: NI fans 'open minded' over stadium

NORTHERN Ireland supporters are prepared to give proposals for a new stadium in east Belfast a "fair hearing".

Speaking to the News Letter website, Amalgamation spokesman Gary McAllister revealed fans have met officials from the brainchild of the project - Eastonville Traders - on two occasions already.

The consultants have put forward the 66 million facility as an alternative to the ill-fated Maze stadium project.

It is proposed the site at Sydenham could house international football matches as well as Heineken Cup rugby matches and major football features such as the Irish Cup Final.

Mr McAllister said fans are committed to working with the Irish Football Association and urged the relevant authorities to make a "quick decision".
