Arrests made over axe robbery

A MAN and woman have been arrested following an armed robbery in Bangor, police have confirmed.
On Tuesday afternoon, a man entered a shop on Central Avenue wielding an axe before threatening staff and demanding money.

The assailant made off with a sum of money.

A police spokesperson confirmed the arrests on Wednesday morning, which took place after a follow-up search of a house in the seaside town.

A quantity of cash and drugs were seized by police in the property.
