The funeral of Strabane Sinn Fein councillor Charlie McHugh is expected to take place tomorrow in Castlederg.
The former council chairman died suddenly at his home on Friday – the day after his 60th birthday.

Party colleague and current council chairman, Cllr Jarlath McNuly, said: “Charlie was a guiding light for so many people – within council, within the community and within Sinn Fein. His contribution to all has been immense and his loss immeasurable.”

Mr McHugh was elected to the council in 1985 and duly returned at each subsequent local election. He was chairman in 2000-2001.
