A man in his 60s has died after a road traffic collision between Scarva and Poyntzpass yesterday.
Patrick Anthony Burns – known as Tony – from the Westacres area of Craigavon was killed in the collision on the Poyntzpass Road.

The other man injured in the accident was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The death occurred when two lorries collided at around 8.45am yesterday.

The incident happened at an area known locally as Jackson’s Corner.

The incident involved an articulated lorry and a smaller lorry.

The road between Poyntzpass and Scarva was to be closed for most of the day, police said.

SDLP Armagh councillor Sharon Haughey said: “News of this fatal accident comes with a great sense of sadness for the local community in Poyntzpass and Scarva.

“It is tragic that another life has been lost on our roads.”

She added: “My heartfelt sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim at this very sad time.”
