MLAs poised for pay rise

STORMONT politicians are expected to gain a pay rise - but at a much lower level than previously mooted.
An independent body is predicted to recommend a 3.5 per cent rise - the equivalent to £500.

News of any pay increase is expected to met with derision by the Ulster public, as the credit crunch continues to bite.

The Senior Salaries Review Body - which recommends pay levels for MPs at Westminster and other regional assemblies - will publish its findings later this week.

Office cost allowances and mileage expenses for our 108 public representatives are expected to come under review also.
