ROBERT Dunlop was the most successful rider in the history of the North West 200, with 15 race wins to his credit.
His last victory on the north coast was achieved in 2006 when he won the 125cc race to the delight of his home fans.

He returned to racing following an horrific accident at the Isle of Man TT races in 1994 when he sustained life-threatening injuries after a fault in the rear wheel of his RC45 Medd Honda caused him to crash as he exited Ballaugh village.

One of the most celebrated riders of all time, Robert was the brother of Isle of Man TT record holder, Joey Dunlop, who was killed at a race in Estonia in 2000.

He was due to ride a 250 machine competitively for the first time in 10 years on Saturday.
