THE death of an SDLP councillor has prompted a tribute from his party colleague, West Belfast MLA Alex Attwood.
Councillor Cormac Boomer, who was a member of Belfast City Council, passed away on Sunday.

Mr Attwood last night described him as “tireless in his commitment and fearless, particularly during deeply troubled periods of our history”.

He continued: “He held firm to democratic and labour values in the face of political hostility.

“He did not waiver and west Belfast is much the better for it.

“On behalf of the SDLP, I wish to extend sympathy to his wife Alice, his children and extended family. May he rest in peace.”
