Young Farmers Clubs from all over Northern Ireland have converged on the Balmoral Show for one of their national highlights - their annual tug-of-war competition.
Many of the teams had spent several nights a week preparing all through the winter, with hushed tales told of teams of men hoisting heavy weights into the rafters of barns night after night in pursuit of the coveted title.

It all came to a head on Thursday 15 May at the Balmoral Show, and after two hours of blisters, sweat and muscle rub, four teams came to the top.

In the end Garvagh / Coleraine YFC took the overall 2008 title, beating Kilwaugher YFC into second place.
