‘All of a sudden the car just went under the water, it was desperate’

A man who was at the scene of Sunday night’s tragedy in Buncrana has spoken of the terrible events he witnessed.

The family were on a day trip to Buncrana, Co Donegal when their Audi Q7 car slid off a slip way into Lough Swilly on Sunday evening.

Sean McGrotty, 46, was with sons Mark, 12, and Evan, eight, in the sports utility-type vehicle along with his mother-in-law Ruth Daniels, 57, and her 15-year-old daughter Jodie Lee.

The only survivor was four-month-old baby girl Rionaghac-Ann.
