The Northern Ireland Office has been accused of “hiding behind” an upcoming review of the on the runs crisis ahead of election time.

The TUV’s leader Jim Allister and other party members had yesterday met with Secretary of State Theresa Villiers to discuss the issue of the comfort letters provided to IRA suspects.

In the wake of the meeting, Mr Allister issued a statement which read: “We came to the meeting with a series of questions about the on the runs issue and left with precious few of them answered. It is evident that the Northern Ireland Office, like the DUP, intends to hide behind the judge-led review in order to avoid giving answers before the election.”
