Arlene Foster has welcomed a fulsome apology from a prominent republican blogger who published a link to fake information.
In a written apology on his blog, Jude Collins said that several weeks ago he had “posted a link to a posting by a fictitious person – I can’t even remember his/her name now” who had “claimed to have researched and established” links between Mrs Foster and a company which was involved in the RHI scheme.
Mr Collins went on: “This was a prime example of fake news and I was foolish enough to believe it. I am happy to apologise unreservedly for my carelessness in promoting what now emerge as lies.”
Mrs Foster yesterday tweeted about the issue, saying: “I welcome this apology for spreading lies about both myself and my family.”
