Big van event for Wilsons Auctions

WILSONS Auctions in Portadown is hosting what is being billed as the largest ever sale of vans across Ireland on September 11.

More than 200 vehicles are expected to pass through the sale, many bound for the Republic.

The appetite in the Irish market for UK originated stock remains high according to Richard McFetridge, commercial auction manager, at Wilsons.

“UK originated commercial product is highly sought after in this market. Prior to this auction buyers in Ireland would have had to shoulder the expense of travelling to the UK to source and pick up stock. With this comes the logistical implication of transport and, of course, time away for their main source of income – selling the vehicles.”

As a result Wilsons Auctions researched the market to detail what commercial stock buyers want, liaised with the UK-based vendors and worked together with them to set up the event.

“It’s a no brainer for us,” said Mr McFetridge. “Vendors will get smart returns for their product as our buyers will seek to take advantage of the opportunity.”
