Local firm aims to develop new market opportunities

EFFORTS by a Northern Ireland company – which is a leader in clinical trialling – to create new markets will speed up the process of bringing new medications to hospitals, the firm said yesterday.

Medevol, whose headquarters are based at Northern Ireland Science Park (NISP) in Belfast provides commercial clinical trials expertise to the global pharmaceutical, medical device and clinical research industries.

Operating since 2001, the company has been successfully delivering a diverse number of research projects throughout Northern Ireland.

The firm’s new Chief Operating Officer Colette Donaghy said increased competition from Europe and India in particular means the company is focusing on developing new markets for its products and services.

“My aim is to develop further opportunities for Medevol in a market that faces increased competition from Europe and India. I’m looking at how we can expand our business and use the excellent infrastructure we have to deliver quality research to a global market. To do this we need to recognise our strengths, explore niche markets and most importantly continue to deliver a top-quality and reliable service to our global customers.”

Prior to the appointment at Medevol, Ms Donaghy worked with pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Ltd and in total has notched up 21 years of experience in the clinical research industry.

Welcoming Ms Donaghy to the Park, NISP Chief Executive Norman Apsley said: “Medevol is just one example of the high calibre of knowledge-based companies that are choosing to set up and grow here at the Science Park and I look forward to seeing the firm develop under Colette’s strategic leadership.”
