Campaign puts a McJob at top of menu
McDonald's is creating more than 150 jobs in Northern Ireland and 4,000 across the UK in response to sustained growth, which is seeing the company serve an extra two million customers a month compared to last year.
The company revealed the jobs increase yesterday as it unveiled a new advertising campaign to support its fast-increasing recruitment needs. The My McJob campaign illustrates the career benefits and high-quality job opportunities available at McDonald’s through the voice of its own employees and is part of its campaign to encourage reappraisal of jobs and careers with the company.
“Creating more than 150 jobs in Northern Ireland is great news for our business and our franchisees, particularly in these tougher trading times,” said Des Lamph, McDonald’s franchisee.
“And with 4,000 jobs being created across the UK it is a clear signal that customers are responding to the restaurant modernisation programme and menu changes that we have been rolling out over the last couple of years. Customers tell us they really appreciate the difference and the experience is better than ever. In fact, we are now serving 50,000 additional customers in Northern Ireland every month compared to 2007.”
A series of posters will highlight the benefits of working at McDonald’s, describing why employees love their McJob.
The campaign, which will be seen by approximately two million people each day, goes live in McDonald’s 1,200 restaurants around the UK on August 6.
The campaign, which for the first time will see McDonald’s celebrate rather than defend the term McJob, follows a two-year concerted campaign to overturn common misconceptions about work at McDonald’s.
