“I am extremely proud to be a member of Clefs d’Or in Ireland and I am so pleased to have been named as Concierge of the Year,” said Gerard. “It is such an honour to have been recognised by my peers.”

Gerard, who has been welcoming guests through the doors of the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Belfast since it opened nine years ago, had to undergo a knowledge test and a rigorous interview as part of the award process.

The Concierge of the Year Award is also named the Jimmy Connor Award to honour the late Jimmy Connor who was concierge at the Grand Central Hotel and then at The Europa Hotel in Belfast.

This is the second award Gerard has won during his time at the recently awarded five-star Fitzwilliam Hotel, Belfast; he previously won Concierge of the Year at the Janus Awards in 2014.
