One bedroom cottage with historic ties goes on the market in Belfast for £150,000
The property at College Square Gardens off the Lisburn Road has attracted a lot of attention from potential buyers, including teachers from neighbouring Methodist College - the school which owns the former Master Boarder’s Lodge.
Dawn Warnock from estate agents GOC said the 1877 Victorian Gothic style lodge is “deceptively spacious” adding that it was “dwarfed by the large scale properties surrounding it” including the City Hospital.

“We’ve had first time buyers, investors, a few people who wanted to turn it into an office. Others want to add it to their portfolio of properties so they have a base in Belfast.
“We’ve had teachers from the school looking at it, it couldn’t be much handier.”
Although the cottage is listed as one bedroom there is an adjoining dressing room upstairs. Downstairs there is a lounge, kitchen and bathroom.

Guided by literature provided by Methody, GOC estate agents list the architect as Sir Charles Lanyon, who also designed Queens University, Belfast Castle, Custom House and the Palm House in Botanic Gardens.
Queen’s Conservation Area credits the design to Dublin architect William Fogerty who also designed the main building at Methodist College around 10 years previously.
