A Premier Inn plan to build a new hotel in Bangor has been given the green light by Ards and North Down clearing the way for 30 jobs in the area.
The hotel group plans to invest £7 million in the project which is planned for the former site of the Bangor Castle Leisure Centre which closed several years ago.
It is thought the scheme would also support 80 jobs during the construction phase and bring much needed accommodation space to the North Down area.
Welcoming the investment MLA Gordon Dunne said: “I have been involved in supporting this exciting development for a number of years. This investment will help to transform Bangor and bring a real boost to the town centre and the North Down area.
“Given Bangor’s close proximity to Belfast, we have had to compete for this kind of investment and I am delighted that we are now seeing some of that investment here.”
