Tour operators to visit province next year

LEADING tour operators from across the Irish Republic are to visit Northern Ireland next year when the Irish Tour Operators Association (ITOA) comes to Belfast for the first time as a group.

The organisation is to hold its AGM in Northern Ireland in February after the Northern Ireland Tourist Board saw off stiff competition from regional tourism authorities and product suppliers in the Republic of Ireland to host the event.

“Hosting the AGM will give us the opportunity to showcase all that is great about Belfast and Northern Ireland,” said Fiona Cunningham, NITB market manager (ROI).

ITOA president Fiona O’Sullivan said: “We are aware of the exciting developments that are due for completion in Belfast 2012 and look forward to visiting the city in advance. Our members actively promote tourism in the various counties and our visit will enable us to see first hand the excellent product available in Northern Ireland.”
