Ulster Carpets have recently acquired Roger Oates Design.

The purchase of this prestigious brand fits perfectly with Ulster’s philosophy of acquiring high quality and profitable businesses in the floor covering sector.

Headquartered in Herefordshire with a showroom in Chelsea, Roger Oates Design hand crafts its own range of distinctive fabric for use as stair runners, and related interior furnishing products.

“Ulster’s ethos and future plans very much revolve around quality, design and service excellence, and Roger Oates Design fits this perfectly. David Acheson, Ulster’s Head of Strategic Operations.

“We are delighted to have secured Roger’s continued involvement, and are excited about the future prospects for the business.”

The acquisition is being funded from cash reserves and reflects Ulster’s desire to broaden the Group by selectively adding outstanding business where the opportunity arises.

“In 2016 alone we have invested more than £10 million in our own new manufacturing operations at Portadown and added a major brand to our business.

Our full commitment to business investment spending will continue in 2017.

Despite the uncertainties of the macro-economics Ulster Carpets are clearly focussed on the many positive opportunities open to the company here and internationally.

“As a Northern Ireland based company, we hope this contributes to a stronger level of confidence for the local economy”, added Nick Coburn, Group MD and President of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Ulster Carpets were advised in the purchase by the local offices of BDO and Pinsent Masons.
