An ambulance was struck by a car this afternoon while carrying a crash victim from an earlier incident.

The emergency vehicle was en route to hospital with the patient, who had been involved in a two-car collision on Camlough’s Sturgan Road at 2pm, when it was then struck on the south Armagh village’s Old Road at about 4pm by a blue car.

The car then sped off in the direction of Newtownhamilton, leaving the ambulance with significant damage.

Neither crew nor patient – who was one of several involved in the earlier crash – were seriously injured, but were taken to Daisy Hill for checks.
