An event will take place on Friday to celebrate the life of Co Down schoolboy Joshua Martin who passed away on Monday after a two-year battle with cancer.

His mother Kim announced details of the event on Facebook while thanking everyone for the support the family has received.

She said: “Thank you for the thousands of messages of support from you all. We have been absolutely overwhelmed by your love for our beautiful son and our family.

“We will be holding a celebration of his life at Bangor Elim on Friday 3rd March at 1pm. Everyone is welcome.

“Family flowers only, but if anyone would like to donate in lieu of flowers, our nominated charity is the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. You can donate via Bangor Elim on the day or S Clarke and Son Funeral Directors (Bangor and Ards). Information on car parking for Friday will be available nearer the time on the Bangor Elim Facebook page.”

Bangor Elim Church said they expected the celebration of Josh’s life to be extremely well attended and asked people to allow extra time to get there and get in.
