'˜Blue Saab' link to ransacking of house

The owners of a house are thought to have disturbed burglars who were ransacking their home on the Ballygarvey Road, Ballymena in broad daylight.

Now police have appealed for information and they are particularly interested in a ‘dark blue Saab’ which was at the scene.

Detective Constable Mervyn Douglas said:“ It was reported that at approximately 2.00pm on Tuesday, February 21, the owner of a property on the Ballygarvey Road, Ballymena, arrived home to discover a dark blue Saab vehicle blocking the entrance to the premises.

“Upon noticing the home owner, the driver of the dark blue Saab sounded their horn and drove off in the direction of Broughshane.

“When driving into their driveway the home owner noticed two males running across the lawn onto the Ballygarvey Road in the direction of the Cushendall Road and upon entering the property the home owner discovered they had been burgled.

“Entry was forced via the front door of the house and the property was ransacked.

“We are appealing to anyone that may have any information or to anyone that may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact detectives at Ballymena Reactive and Organised Crime Branch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 642 of the 21/02/17. Or, alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
