Car is burnt out in west Belfast

A suspected stolen car was burned out in west Belfast last night.

The green Mazda could be seen lying charred on its side after the incident in Beechmount Street.

Police said that around 11:55pm the vehicle was seen “driving erratically”.

It is understood a large group of youths were in the area, and that after the car was set alight they made off towards Clowney Street.

It is believed that the car was stolen from Inverary Drive in Sydenham, east Belfast, shortly before 11:20pm.

The PSNI said: “Police would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has information to contact them at Woodbourne Police Station on the non-emergency number 101”.
